First off, thank you for taking the time to visit my website and your interest in my practice, Be Balanced. My counseling practice is not only my career, but a passion. I find tremendous gratitude in being let in to my clients’ journeys and especially enjoy being able to be witness to clients finding peace and understanding in their own life.
My practice started as an in-office service in Lewistown, MT in 2015 where I focused on working with adult individuals, children, and couples. It was during this time I engaged in extensive and in-depth training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples, honing in my studies on the dynamic and understanding between couples and the reason why they engage they way they do. From there, my husband and I moved to Denver, CO for his career and I continued to see several of my clients through a HIPAA-compliant video platform. I found this to work really well, even though one of my favorite parts of working with people is being able to sit in the same physical space as them. Currently, my husband and I live in Chicago and I am running my entire practice as an online, video-based practice. I have found the video appointments to not only be convenient for my clients, but also to provide the same amount of efficacy as in-office appointments. My clients tell me “it doesn’t feel different!” and some even say “I like it better because I’m sitting on my own couch!”
I received my counseling degree from Montana State University in beautiful Bozeman, Montana. Following graduate school, I worked as a therapist with children in a school setting, and in community mental health. I am grateful for those experiences, though my passion lies in owning my own practice and being able to invest more freely in each of my clients and their experience in counseling. My specialty is in couples facing relationship distress or simply wanting to strengthen their relationship and form a closer connection and adult individuals experiencing relational struggles, anxiety, depression, phase-of-life stressors, and familial struggles.
